Semifinal Ticket Discussion

Submitted by Logan on

I don't think I saw a post regarding tickets. My flight and hotel are booked and I would like to buy tickets before the other Elite Eight games today. Any suggestions or is it Stubhub and insane fees or bust?

I bought tickets to the Semifinals last night, I think you just have to suck it up at this point. The schools remaining on the other side all have huge fanbases or are local in the case of Texas Tech.

While hypothetically true, this is not what happened in Atlanta 5 years ago. There are so many corporate purchases and so many more people interested for the two teams that win in the Final Four that the championship game tickets start expensive and stay expensive.

San Antonio is a total PITA to get to from a logistics standpoint  - Brian mentioned this on Twitter.

Rooting interestinsg - hope that Kansas vs. Villanova goes to 6 OTs, and Villanova wins in the end. Kansas fans travel very well (they're annoying like Nebraska fans - absolutely nothing to do in that part of the country except watch basketball), so we want Kansas to lose.

I'm holding off on buying tickets until after Saturdays games.

Need some help - looking at stubhub the tickets are listed as Semifinals or All Sessions. Does that mean the Semifinals tickets do not differentiate the Michigan/Loyola game or the second final four game? Or do you get to watch both games in the same seats for the same ticket

any thoughts on whether it makes sense to buy semifinals only vs all sessions? at a glance it looks economical to just buy the full session now. but it seems like losing fans from the semifinal would be selling off finals tickets for cheap, which might even things out.

anyone know how re-selling would work? for example, coud i attend the M semifinal and sell the ticket outside the stadium before the second semifinal? or are they no re-entry? what if i buy an all session pass and M loses in semifinal and I want to sell the finals ticket?

Tickets are likely to be expensive. Loyola hasn't been in a final four since the 60's Kansas and Duke both have massive fanbases and Kansas travels extremely well and Texas Tech is in Texas. For ticket prices Nova winning would be better but really the tickets aren't going to be cheap

Prices were significantly cheaper than stubhub (albeit with much smaller selection). Cheapest ticket on there right now is $283. Amazing atmosphere last night. Hope you make it to San Antonio.

Don’t mean to make it hurt for the rest of you but $40 seats for both games for student season ticket holders. I’m so happy my son will be there. There will be a great student contingent.

Had student tickets in 2013 and it was one of the best experiences of my life. You don't get to be in the stadium for the other final four game though because they just switch out the student sections. At least that is the way it was. But yeah $40 for floor seats for the semis and finals, was incredible.

In addition to StubHub, look at Vivid Seats and SeatGeek.  The fees and listings are similar (and I am pretty sure often overlap), but SeatGeek has a feature that gives you an idea of how good of a deal you are getting.  I ended up buying my three tickets last night on StubHub just for the semis with the idea that I will wait and see whether it is worth the money to pay WAY more to get into lower seats for the finals (I am not even considering the possibility of a Michigan loss).  There are so many rows in the bowl (A-Z, then AA-QQ, then 20-35 that paying 5x as much to be in the bowl did not seem worth it as compared to low rows up upper deck.  I would recommend paying a bit extra to avoid the end zones as I sat there for prior Alamo Bowls and it was like watching from outer space and there was no way to know whether a play went for 1 or 10 yards (not as much of an issue in basketball).

For the finals, prices are lower, but this is in part because you are paying for one game instead of two.  It also depends who ends up going.  My theory is for prices we want (1) Nova, (2) Duke, (3) Kansas, and (4) Texas Tech, the theory being that lots of Tech fans will live within driving distance of San Antonio, Kansas is also close enough to drive and they travel well, and Duke will travel better than Nova.

For those who went in 2013, where were the Michigan sections?  I went to the regionals in Indianapolis in 2014 with my Dad's priority points (100's) and we were 2nd level behind the goal.  I'm hoping for better results this time with my father-in-law's 460 points.  He just missed the first wave of season ticket holders and 500+ that had the deadline today but is now in this next wave that has a deadline of Noon tomorrow.

Kansas will have the majority fans on Saturday. We'll be close behind. Pull for a Michigan and Villanova win on Saturday night - there should be lots of tickets for Monday if this happens.

Yes, we want Kansas to lose.  I live in Dallas and in 2013 after we beat Kansas in the Sweet 16 I was able to get amazing seats for the Elite Eight (literally, the first row behind the media) for less than I paid to go to the finals in Atlanta for seats that were 20-30 rows back.

Has anyone else bought tickets to the Gameday Hospitality Pre-Game Party? I am thinking of buying them, it is all you can eat and drink next to the stadium.
