Satire piece on recruiting violations
February 17th, 2018 at 1:46 PM ^
Do you even get satire?
February 17th, 2018 at 2:22 PM ^
Since everyone else has said the same thing, I'll only respond to the first comment. I re-opened the article after I posted and first thing I saw was the thisissatire, was gonna go back and re-edit but then said "eh, let's see how long it takes others".
So besides being a tough crowd, some of the UM fan base is quite quick and smart.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:43 PM ^
thanks for wasting my time
February 17th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
Considering you took your time to comment, I think you owe yourself a thank you.
February 17th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
You had to read this twice to realize it wasn't real?
Please don't reproduce.
February 17th, 2018 at 3:15 PM ^
Damn that's pretty harsh.
When you open an article in AMP (which is Google's watered down webpage optimizer for decreasing data usage) it doesn't load headers or footers. This is the reason for not seeing Thisissatire the first time. Second time I opened it, it opened in my browser, which loaded the header.
February 17th, 2018 at 3:21 PM ^
If so, I see it’s satire
February 17th, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
Yep, if you open it thru the Google Now page, it'll load thru the Google AMP service rather than the browser. If opened in the browser it loads the full page.
February 17th, 2018 at 5:04 PM ^
But c’mon man, that’s a weak excuse. I didn’t need a header to know it was satire as I was reading it. “Other rules violations included staying out after the streetlights came on” or some such weren’t a tip? 18 years of cash and other support? Put 2 and 2 together here man...
February 17th, 2018 at 1:48 PM ^
Is satire. Hopefully you realize this
February 17th, 2018 at 2:51 PM ^
If this was about staee it may be spot on!
February 17th, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
Purchasing a FOLJA baby crib at IKEA for an infant recruit was actually quite funny. Otherwisr...meh.
February 17th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
You are not sorry. Admit it!
February 17th, 2018 at 2:41 PM ^
Some people just like to watch the world burn....
February 17th, 2018 at 1:49 PM ^
Well this is awkward!
February 17th, 2018 at 1:51 PM ^
like, that was not even a little bit funny
February 17th, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
Thisissatirewhichmakesitreal
February 17th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
You navigated to a website called "widerightnattylite.com" and weren't immediately disgusted with yourself?
February 17th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
I really detest people who spell obnoxiously, as in "lite" and "thru"
February 17th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Went out last weekend to get a girl a satire for her Jeep.
February 17th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Great posting.
The comment is sarcastic. Like the article.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
Great comment.
The comment is sarcastic as well. Unlike the article. Which is satire, not sarcasm.
Oh well, wasn't quick enough to catch my error. You win.
February 17th, 2018 at 1:56 PM ^
The Onion and The Daily Show. Let him enjoy the turmoil about to hit Iowa City . . .
February 17th, 2018 at 1:57 PM ^
I think that article was satire, but not very well done.
February 17th, 2018 at 1:58 PM ^
Obviously, this is an Onion-esque piece, but I chuckled a bit at this part (overall, not terribly funny):
Various photos, receipts, pay stubs, and passive-aggressive refrigerator sticky notes also indicate that wrestling coach Terry Brands has been following the lead of McCaffery and Ferentz, providing housing, clothing, food, money, and unwanted dating advice to a prized recruit for more than a decade.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:01 PM ^
Hard-hitting journalism is the norm for WideRightNattyLight - America's trusted sports news source. The article has bold revelations about a supposedly clean program, with the parts about the passive-aggressive sticky notes being - frankly - pretty hard to read.
We thought we knew you Hawkeyes. We didn't at all.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
Dude... it's satire.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
so was his comment
February 17th, 2018 at 2:41 PM ^
Lol. That comment went over your head
February 17th, 2018 at 10:11 PM ^
LOL. ^^ This!
February 17th, 2018 at 2:06 PM ^
Wrongly going after a program - we’ll, username fits
February 17th, 2018 at 2:08 PM ^
We can give you a pass on your formatting, no problem...
February 17th, 2018 at 2:34 PM ^
Thanks, next time I'll get the info right too!
Although, it'll be awhile until there is a next time...

I made a thread while intoxicated, many years ago, and got crushed for it.
I know how you feel, just close the app for the day and never visit this thread again. No one irl knows you by your username, and we will all forget.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:16 PM ^
This post really flamed out, if you know what I mean
February 17th, 2018 at 2:33 PM ^
Up In Smoke?
February 17th, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
Poof.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:20 PM ^
Iowa State's site is called "Wide right and Natty light"? Hmmm....I see.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:21 PM ^
what are they going to do next, wave to sick kids during football games?
oh, the humanity
February 17th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
The piece is kinda funny when you know that McCaffery’s son is on the team, so sleeping with a recruit’smom is true.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:44 PM ^
Losing 30-8 vs northwestern. Also, Texas beat Oklahoma.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:50 PM ^
It’s been mentioned above, but the whole joke is that his son is on the team. Thus benefits for decades and sleeping with his mom.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:50 PM ^
MSU getting its collective skull crushed in by Northwestern right now. 43-16 with 4 mins to go in the first half.
February 17th, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
Just saw that as well and it made me smile
February 17th, 2018 at 2:52 PM ^
OP downvoted for changing title and having an attitude about it.
February 17th, 2018 at 3:02 PM ^
No attitude, I laughed at my initial mistake. I figured it'd be deleted by now. Also surprised there wasn't an IBD post yet
February 17th, 2018 at 3:06 PM ^
Inflammable Being Downvoted
:-)
February 17th, 2018 at 3:18 PM ^
Ha, that's actually pretty solid. Nicely done
February 17th, 2018 at 2:56 PM ^
I clicked because the title said i shouldn't. I was wrong to do this.
February 17th, 2018 at 3:16 PM ^
are not alone!
