Report: Wheatley Out of the Running for WMU Position

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

I'm very glad we'll have him for at least one more season.

Source: Former UM star Tyrone Wheatley appears to be out of the running for the Western Michigan job.

Edit: I updated the title because a poster below said the report was false and the tweet itself hedges.

"Source" is a former player, not recent, still involved with the team on occasion, said that Fisch and Wheatley's departure not unwelcome. He made a hand motion when he said that like he was shooing away something.  Fisch wanted to have more input and call more plays.  Didn't feel like he was involved enough.  I asked if the running game wasn't developing, and he raised his eyebrows, said "Wellllllll..." and didn't want to say much more.  I didn't press for more info and we moved on to talk about Spyniewski who was told when Harbaugh came in that he would not get a fifth year.

Will hurt to lose him, and this info going around he was looking at this job probabaly didn't help with a certain running back. I knew he was being rented but hoped we made it four year while his kid was here. Whenever he leaves best of luck. Unless he goes to OSUin that case eff him ;)

Just to suggest that the dickholes on this blog who speak as if they have unnamed "sources" and haven't established themselves as credible folks like umbig11 should face the banhammer.

you are always looking around making a mental checklist of assistants and coordinators you can potentially hire in the future.  They don't just say, "Oh crap what do we do now?  We better hire a firm to start an assistant coaching search!
