Ran into Daydrion Taylor

Submitted by tdeshetler on

Prefix: This takes place in Dallas.

My family went out to dinner tonight and on the way out of the restaurant , I was ushering my kids out while holding the door for a young lady who happened to have a Michigan Wolverines t-shirt on.  While engaged in general chitchat, her dad mentioned he was a graduate and former football player.  His name is Daydrion Taylor.

For those that remember Daydrion, he wore #28 in the late 90's.  Without going to Google, what is he famous for?

Cool thing is that his family lives a couple blocks from us.  Will have to get him out on the golf course.

"Without going to Google?"  You think we're that forgetful?

All he did was dish out the hit of the century in the Judgment Day PSU game (which, sadly, ended his career).

The real time video of that hit doesn't even do the play justice.  The best view is the slow mo replay from behind Taylor as he goes in for the kill.

What a game.  As soon as it started, I couldn't wait for the defense to get on the field and show the Beaver Stadium crowd what they were in for.

A far cry from the feeling I have these days of watching our defense.

OR the game.  Michigan played the type of aggressive start-to-finish games we always long for as M fans.  I'll never forget Glen Steele opening the 1st defensive series with a QB sack, and the domination just continued for 4 quarters.

One of my favorite hits of all time, just too bad about the outcome.  The whole room screemed when we seen him try to take the PSU players head off.

My favorite part was how, to that point in the game, Penn State had not made a first down.  Then they finally get one, and BAM!!!!

i've never been a combination of...

1. Super jacked up beyond words

and

2. Seriously worried for both players' health

...at the same time.

Thinking back now, it was quite surreal.

I "was sick as a dog" and couldn't go to college basketball practice that day, so "unfortunately" i was confined to my dorm to "get better and not get anyone else sick".

Coincidentally, a HUGE game was on that day that i just happened to be able to watch...

Defensive domination.

The whole nation knew we were to be taken incredibly serious after that game. And rightfully so.

And no one else is disturbed it's been long enough for him to have a daughter to be considered "a young lady"....damn...was it that long ago? I'm so old...
