Hey, same here!!  And she's as big (or bigger) a MICHIGAN fan as anyone I know.  She tried participating here a while back, but found the level of douchebaggery too high to tolerate and stopped.

This thread as an indication of douchebaggery reinforces her opinion of this site.

Don't ever refer to your wife (or girlfriend) as "Big" "Bigger" or god forbid, "Biggest."  While you pride is justified and intention is noble, those words can always be heard in the 'Wrong" way.  I suggest something like "She's a great fan"  or " the best fan".  "Passionate" is a also a good substitute.

"Huge" is just right out.

I believe the '05 situation was 4th and 4 at the 34 yard line.  While I absolutely believe that going for it was the right move there, knowing that 4 simple yards basically means you win the game right there (And why do you play?  YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.  HELLO???), the situation bares a striking resemblance to Pete Carroll's decision in the MNC game a few months later.  4th and 2 around the 40, and a first down essentially ends the game.  He goes for it, and Lorenzo White gets stuffed.  Carroll took an unfair beating in the media after that choice.

Basically, everyone's a brilliant arm-chair QB with 20/20 hindsight.  Coaches are often damned either way.

The list of connections in this article for just one game sort of speaks to just how small a world the NFL really is in comparison to the rest of the population, but it will be interesting to see if we can get at least a few series with both Henne and Robinson in there. I will say, however, that I didn't even really think about how many former Jaguars are now on the Lions roster before reading this - interesting really.

he was everywhere.   You could see him at other M sporting events cheering the other athletes on.  Maybe it is because so many more games are on TV now, but I don't recall any other "celebrity" style athlete doing this here.

Best of all, he stayed.  I was sure he was going to transfer out when RR was let go, but he had fallen in love with the university and didn't want the team to splinter like it did when LC left.

He had a good career at M.  But he was more of the game manager type quarterback that sat in the pocket.  Denard was just all around spectacular, a highlight clip machine.

I couldn't agree with this more.  It was like we came out with a totally difference offense for the Capital One Bowl.  My buddy and I were sure RichRod came up with the offense after being named coach.   We were young and naive.

This was the offense that they wanted to run all year but couldn't because of a multitude of injuries.  Prior to the season they had Tom Moore come in and help them draw up this attack.  Tom Moore was the OC for the Colts and the man who taught Peyton Manning quite a bit about offense.

...there's no reason to not mention one of the best QB's in school history (numbers wise) and a current NFL starting QB.

It was just a mistake, period. No need to justify.

Michigan went 36-14 with Henne as the QB (72%) with 2 Rose Bowl appearances.  One Big 10 championship and 2 Big 10 2nd place finishes. His 2006 team was the closest thing we've had to nationally elite since 1997.  Most of us would kill for that sort of situation nowadays.  He and Hart also saved our 2004 season.

Denard was 23-10 (70%) for comparison with 1 BCS bowl. (I removed the last 6 games of Denard's senior year including Nebraska as he was not the QB)

Yes it was not all about the QB in either case in terms of W-L.  But 1 win versus a Fickel led debilitated OSU should not put one far above the other.  Denard had charisma that Henne lacked and we have recency bias....maybe if he had Jake Ryan's 2012 hair and smiled a lot more people would "adore" him more.  He was one of the best QBs we ever had.

Per Wiki:

For his career, Henne completed 828 of 1,387 passes for 9,715 yards, 87 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions. All five marks are school records. Henne's passing touchdown total is second in Big Ten Conference history.

I always note that he would have easily been Michigan's only 10,000 yard career passer if not for his injuries during his senior year.  His monsterous Capitol One Bowl performance really showed what he could have done that year if healthy.

But I bet it is reasonably likely that the person handling the UM Alumni twitter account graduated in the Denard era. Perhaps they never even saw Henne play. I'd imagine it is an accidental slip up and not a shot at Henne. I am not excusing the mistake, but I think its probably innocuous.

When viewed in that light, approximately 93% of us on the blog can now return to lamenting how old we feel...

Michigan didn't  "forget Chad Henne."  The "MIchgan Alumni" account doesn't speak for all fans, all alums or the school itself.  It's just a Twitter account.
