OT: your favorite thing

There are many things that make me happy that are not colored maize and blue. I love to cook and I'm a big fan of literature. I've been devouring Cormac McCarthy lately. Blood Meridian left me unnerved and now I'm reading The Road. His prose are incredible. I also like children's literature. I saw that they are making a movie of A Wrinkle in Time and so I plan to read that book to my boys soon. What sorts of things do you fill your time with that are not boring and not maize and blue? Any new hobbies? I'd love to hear about it.

Putting too much stock into things I have no control over.

Over half my wardrobe is Michigan sweatshirts. I havent missed a game since 2009. I fucking identify with Michigan football. Therefore I identify as mediocre.

I need a new hobby.

I’m a Manchester City fan and right now in sports they eclipse this football by miles and miles. They play with passion hunger desire even though they are all very highly paid. The real Pep coaches with passion and wants to entertain the fans every single game. As a fan, that is all I ask for and they deliver in spades. I will never bash our boys but realistically they just don’t get it done, and this year was some of the most boring football I have seen. We use the youth excuse all the time but I see teams as young or with less talent do more than our team. It’s sad and I never miss a chance to see us play. The saddes thing I can say is that I missed watching 4 or 5 games this year due to other obligations and I wasn’t very bothered to watch the replay. That has never happened in all of my Michigan fandom.

Can someone explain Harper Lee and J.D. Salinger to me? They wrote absolute American masterpieces and just gave up writing. Oh I guess Lee spent like 50 years working on a prequel but whatever.

I like watching my teams compete for championships and win meaningful games.

As a Lions and Michigan fan, I don't get to ever experience either. Maybe that's why I'm always cranky.

My kids and wife. It also helps that they don't give a shit about football (my son loves baseball and Michigan basketball but doesn't care for football) so once the game is over and I spend half an hour venting on MGoBlog, I don't have to relive the continual nightmares that Michigan football brings.

And John Beilein - I like him!

I kept here the commentators say "freshmen" for Michigan.  We are a young team and played like it.  A more experienced team knows how to hold onto leads against OSU and SC...

LSU has Lost and Auburn has Lost so if UGA and Bama lose that would be some minor comfort the SEC is 2-5 right now

I just married the best thing to ever happen to my life. I genuinely enjoy spending time with her. we're now hoping to make a family. wer have 2 dogs currently, and I can't even put into words how much joy they bring me. I work at company that has provided a life for me that I appreciate everyday. in my spare time, I play a ton of beer league hockey. so in short, my favorite things are my wife, my dogs, hockey, and my work. not necessarily in that order but shared. Thank you for this thread.

Always a source of comfort. Got back into it about 2 years ago when the Tigers took a dive. Now I watch Raw, Smackdown and all of the PPVs on the WWE network. Went to Hell In A Cell at LCA and it was awesome. Entertaining, mindless, fun.
