OT: your fantasy NFL trade

Submitted by tricks574 on

So, the NFL trade deadline approacheth, and in lieu of any real action, I think we should make a little fake action. Let's say you can make one trade, get one player, to improve your team. It can be the Lions, it can be anyone. Before we start though, a few rules.

1: No Qb's, it just feels wrong.
2. Player must be on a team with a losing record.

As a Broncos fan, a very happy one, I'd have to go with the big boy, Albert Haynseworth. He's turns the Broncos biggest weakness into a huge strength. I know they've done fine with their current D, but a Nt makes everyone on a 3-4 a lot better. He might not be a true 0 technique Nt, but he can stuff the run and pressure the Qb.

The ONE trade or ONE player for the Lions? Makes my head hurt...where would you start? If it's just one player it has to be an individual who can make plays without relying on other players to validate their effectiveness. Jared Allen? Nnamdi Asomugha (yes I had to look up spelling)? Any offensive player relies heavily on other players...

Maybe the Lions can trade for an entire unit? Like the Vikings' OL?

Id have to say Jake Long would look sweet in a Packers jersey ATM. I don't know how many more times I can stand to watch a Cliff Avril type player rack up 5 sacks a game.

I would also take Chris Johnson from the Titans.

This game is pretty stupid unless you add a third rule:

3. Must be plausible (e.g., no 10-1 for trades, no ricky williams / hershel walker trades, etc.)

Based on that, I'd love to see the Bears trade a first rounder and a defensive starter to the Panthers for Steve Smith.
