Sad news about Gator Brown, I met him a few years ago at the Tigers caravan and he had a few funny stories about the things he'd do to keep focused while he was waiting his opportunity to pinch hit. He seemed like a genuinely good guy, thoughts and prayers to his family.

Not too happy to see Miguel in the lineup, I really hoped he'd get the next few days off, while maybe pinch hitting on Sunday or something.

I for one fully expect Verlander to return to his old self in the playoffs. At least I sure as hell hope so.  Home field advantage is gone, but on the other hand if they can win one in Oakland they will have a chance to finish off the A's at home.

Would have been nice if the skip tried to win last night. Resting guys is good but when home field is at stake, you try to win. Not starting Porcello, No pinch runner for Avila, no sac bunt for Ramon. Couple that with a couple of losses earlier this season solely due to managerial blunders, little faith in this team. Oaktown in 3. Tigers score 3 runs for the series.

the potential to go to the series again. I think they have been been coasting for over a month, granted, they still have been winning series. the key to the whole thing is miggy's health. there's no doubt that they have the deeper lineup compared to oakland. honestly, if their pitching shows up, they will beat the A's in 4 or maybe 5. The A's have been playing hot, it could be a great series. i'm pretty excited for the whole playoff, i don't think there is a favorite, it will be very competitive, unlke last season.

Peralta changes a lot.  Miggy's health changes a lot.  Homefield advantage <<<<<<< Miggy (and others) being healthy.

We weren't going to catch Boston.  The A's cannot match up with our pitching.  If Scherzer and Sanchez give us typical performances, there's almost no doubt we take one of the first two games in Oakland, if not both.  Then we're looking at Verlander/Fister/Scherzer to win 1 of 3 or 2 of 3... against...

I love Bartolo Colon.  I've had him on my fantasy team in recent years past.  However, he won't go deep into the game if we get his pitch count up.  We have aggressive hitters, but we have smart experienced hitters.  If we knock Colon out by the 5th or 6th inning, I'm confident Scherzer gets the job done.

Max Scherzer 32 32 25 21 3 0 0 214.1 152 69 18 56 240 10.08 105.9 6.6 0.97 2.90
Doug Fister 32 32 22 14 9 0 0 207.2 228 85 14 44 158 6.85 104.3 4.0 1.31 3.68
Anibal Sanchez 28 28 20 14 8 0 0 177.0 154 52 9 54 194 9.86 103.9 6.0 1.18 2.64
Justin Verlander 33 33 21 13 12 0 0 212.1 209 84 19 74 207 8.77 109.5 4.3 1.33 3.56

Our pitchers go about an extra inning, per start.  Plus, Ricky P (check out that K/9 by the way) moving to the bullpen gives us some help there.  Hopefully, Rondoner isn't shelved.  If not, I would say we have a decided pitching advantage.

Quick point... Sanchez is fairly identical home/away.  Scherzer has been much more productive away from Comerica.  Both are nearly 1 run better, this year, than Verlander on the road.

This certainly points to a Scherzer - Sanchez - Verlander - Fister rotation, which is what common sense points to as well.

Have yet to look into the individual matchups, but I am pretty confident with that rotation in that order.  Of course, JL has done some crazy things in the past.
