OT: Sunday Night NHL Playoffs
Don't know how the rest of you are faring, but I'm snowed in and schools are already closed for Monday in the U.P., so I'm watching hockey all night. Live now, it's good to see two old-time NHL towns in Minnesota and Winnipeg (both having once lost their NHL teams) battling in the playoffs again. Love the white outs in Winnipeg. Also live right now is Washington versus Columbus, and it's always funny watching the Capitals blow it in the playoffs. DRW announcer Ken Daniels is calling that game.
Later tonight, it's Vegas and the LA Kings. Did anyone see the medieval show Las Vegas put on for game 1? Pretty flashy and over the top. Vegas is a fun team to watch and I'm pulling for them.
Great time of the sports calendar, despite the lack of regularly scheduled baseball right now.
Minnesota is a state. They should re open your school.
Wild Winnipeg game is chippy! I'm loving the fight in both teams! Captials had a good start, but that late goal could be a game changer. Wanting to see Caps vs Vegas or Caps vs Nashville at the end.
I hope someone stops Pittsburgh...
I think Boston is the team to beat in the east. I guess I'd prefer Boston over another Pittsburgh Cup.

As a Bolts fan, I’d like to think that Boston is entirely beatable, but the bruins are very good.
I do not, however, believe that Pittsburgh is better than my Lightning. Some extremely deep lines of young players in Tampa that could be a big problem for the East opponents.

Almost forgot about Tampa. They are the higher seed, no? I'd prefer Tampa, but I was surprised to see many pundits picking Boston to win the Cup. They look the part thus far.

Tampa is the 1 seed ahead of Boston. They edged out the Bruins by 1 point in the regular season, but are 1-3 against Boston this year with the only win being a 4-0 game in the last week of the season.
I can say that Tampa Bay fans are figuring out that hockey is a great sport, but they don’t have the atmosphere of Boston...yet. If it’s a Boston and Tampa series it will be must see tv if you’re a hockey fan. Tons of speed and a lot of hatred between the teams.
are some of the most whiny and ignorant in the league. They have no idea what is even going on.
Michigan native and U of M alum Zach Werenski puts the Blue Jackets up 4-3. Stunned Washington crowd

They finally remembered that they have Braden Holtby on their roster.
Old time hockey, just like Eddie Shore!

I was excited about the Boston/Toronto series but the bruins have just dominated. They’re the last team I want to see win the cup especially now that Marchand licks players....what the fuck

Pastrnak/Marchand/Bergeron line is straight dominating.

Just went to Bruins game last weekend (my youngest is a huge fan despite living in DRW country). Place was packed and loud, quite the opposite of LCA.

T.J. Oshie, American hero, ties it for the Capitals with three to go in the third. Fingers crossed for sudden death OT.

Rough penalty for Werenski. The one thing you cannot do there.

pulling for WSH in this OT

I gotta say, it is both incredible and somewhat enjoyable watching the Caps, year after year, fail in the playoffs.

I really want Ovechkin to get a Cup win.... but seeing the curse continue is appealing as well
April 15th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
Rather, they're just not built for playoff hockey. they have to learn what the Red Wings finally learned. Of course, Ovechkin may be retired by the time they figure it out

4 coaches, 2 GM's and countless players in and out over the past 11 years and the results are still the same.
Ugh. No thanks. There isn’t one player in the NHL I’d less like to see win a Cup than Ovechkin.

Vegas road sweaters are sharp.
Washington continues to be a playoff letdown every season...
Hopefully the Leafs can win Game 3 at home tonight. Absolute MUST WIN.
April 16th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
Leafs are done, Devils are done. Worst two teams in the playoffs.
Both have to win tonight. If you get behind 3-0, it's over (unless you're the Bruins playing the Leafs lol).
I stand corrected. The Ducks are atrocious.
Washington choaking again! At least beat the Pooh jackets!!
