OT: Nassar sentenced for the third (and should be final) time in Eaton County court

Submitted by Wolverine In Iowa 68 on

For those keeping a tally, he got:

60 years for child pornography in Federal Court

40-175 years in Ingham County for sexual assault

40-125 years in Eaton County for sexual assault

As I read previously, this is the third and final sentencing.  I'm sure appeals will be coming, but suffice to say, the sick bastard will never see the light of day as a free man again.

One of the more damning statements by victim Annie Labrie:

"As detectives, attorneys and survivors have previously noted, a pedophile cannot flourish in the way Larry did in an environment that is not conducive to his behavior," abuse survivor Annie Labrie said in court Wednesday.

I sure hope this is the final sentencing. At this point its more than long enough that he never gets out of prison so the number of years whether its 40-125 vs. 40-175 is inconsequential. He should just be put in prison as fast as possible

I am looking forward to moving on from this. Hopefully his victims can have a small sense of justice with his sentencing. I am glad that they all have had their chance to speak out in the court room. What a terrible, terrible tragedy he subjected them all to.

How so, Sparty Steve? True or false, Payne and Appling never missed a game for the alleged rape, the police video doesn't look good for them, the prosecutor now works for MSU and the victim said she was pressured by the prosecutor to drop it, etc..

They were not charged with a crime and were cleared in a Title IX investigation.  I am not interested in the re-trial of cases by rival message board poster judicial systems.  If you want to latch on to some conspiracy theory that is up to you.

And yes, I am a Spartan fan.  Will that get me banned soon?

As much as everyone wants to move on and get beyond this incomprehensible muddfucker, lets not take the view off MSU.  That rock needs to be turned over and rolled completely out of its current resting location.  Everything needs to be thoroughly looked at.

...is that in all liklihood, his next (and last) 60 years will be at the expense of the federal government.  Not the Michgan Department of Corrections.  His medical expenses and final illness costs won't be our (state) problem.

Because ordinarily, federal time and incarceration takes precedence over state incarceration, particularly when the federal conviction occurs first.

Nice job, Judge Janet Neff.  (U.S. District Judge, Western District of Michigan.)

He was a predator on the outside. He'll be prey on the inside. Fresh meat that needs some good tenderizing.

The only question now, in my mind, is how long he lasts when he gets there. It wouldn't surprise me to find out 2-3 years from now that the guards come by his cell one morning only to find that he's hung himself.

meaning, all of this was worked out with each court before it ever happened.  also, in michigan there is no automatic appeal of a conviction when you plead guilty, you have to file what's called a 'leave to appeal' which is basically asking permission for an appeal.  pretty sure the same in fed court. either way, won't happen in these cases.
