OT: Colorado unveils $165 million Champions Center

Submitted by Maizen on
The arms race is alive and well in college athletics. This is pretty cool. Puts them in a class with Bama, Oregon, Tennessee, Georgia, OSU, Texas A&M, Clemson, etc of the world with brand spanking new football facilities. Makes you wonder what's in store for Schembechler Hall. The museum looks great but the rest of the facility is outdated.

Our locker rooms are quite nice - they've gotten a few upgrades in recent years.

Some feel the weight room needs refurbishing, although it's more of a aesthetic issue (the room looks old) rather than a lack of quality equipment or space.

(back in the '70s and '80s) which was named "The Buffalo Stop". Located on W.Leonard St in Grand Rapids, the place had pipes and hash pipes, screens, bongs, electric bongs, rolling papers and all sorts of other paraphernalia, plus all the latest black light posters. Best of all, one of stoners who worked there always had some good weed...

Colorado hasn't been good at a major sport for 20 years, unless I'm forgetting something.  I guess they're trying to just spent their way back into relevence?

And he excelled at that.  I'm not old enough to know if national titles were a big deal in the 60s and 70s like they are now.  I remember losing the 1990 Rose Bowl and that was the first time I seemed to care about who won the national title.  I think a win was supposed to give us a great shot at it.

I think Bo's philosophy was probably perfect for his time period.

The success they enjoyed under McCartney was so out of character with their history makes me think if he had not gotten carried away with other interests, he could have been a major force in the game. You are correct, the period was short, 5-7 years but the record he compiled during that time was seriously  impressive.

As much as I liked McCartney  as a DC here, I will still never buy that 5th  down NC. Impossible to explain away.

That's not bad for a football team that has one exactly one-half a national championship since 1948!

Oh, wait...
