OT: Blake Griffin Debut vs Grizzlies @ 7:00pm Fox Sports Detroit

Submitted by The Fugitive on

Hey look, a topic that's not about MSU.

1.5 games back of 8th place.  Clearly this was a trade to win now (and buy SVG some more time).  I hope Blake can stay healthy and help the team make a run into one of the lower seeds.  I'm skeptical this will work out long term because of his injury history and his salary but I'm pretty excited to tune in tonight.

Seeing Griffin take the floor in Pistons colors. I was high on the team before the holidays but this is the first time I am watching since the calendar turned to 2018. I am optimistic about Blake bringing a lot to the team and hope he can push the Pistons back into the postseason. I love SVG but it has been frustrating to watch this team spin its wheels in the mud the past couple seasons.

Pointless. Everyone knows it's going to be Warriors over Celtics in 5. No drama, i miss 80, 90s and early 2000s NBA.

80s I get, but 90s and early 00s? Jordan's Bulls rolled in all six title years and the Kobe-Shaq Lakers didn't struggle to win during their 3-peat. There's often an obvious best team in the NBA. Only age and the "disease of more" eventually topple those teams until a new one replaces them.

He's looking real good on offense, and his defensive/rebounding energy has been good as well. But offensively, he does bring something unique. I think he is going to be fun to watch in the D. Curious if he can also help bring the expected defensive focus that we are accostomed to in Detroit, and if he can help the team acheive this.

My favorite NBA fact:

There have been only three NBA teams to win the championship without having a past, current, or former NBA MVP.

Pistons 1989

Pistons 1990

Pistons 2004

That's Detroit basketball.
