OT: 49ers Replace Tomsula with Chip Kelly

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on

This is hilarious.

As an Eagles fan, even moreso. They fired Harbaugh for being too controlling and hire a guy who my team fired for being too controlling.

49ers announced their new HC is Chip Kelly.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. Completely missed that Twitter was quoting an old tweet.

They get a more humble chip kelly because of what happened in philly. Kaep prolly the happiest guy on earth. He probably wont get cut now and gets to keep collecting them checks

Talk yourself into the narrative that Chip is a bad coach all you want, but you're wrong.

He won 10 games in both his first two years there. Lions fans would kill for 2 years in a row of 10 wins.

Also, as far up your own ass you are as a Philly fan, you have to be able to admit Chip is far and away better than Tomsula.

Philly fan will have nothing to do but complain when Chip proves to be a great NFL coach.

I'm happy about that.

When did I say he's a bad coach? I thought he did an excellent job his first two years and I was excited about this year. The problem wasn't his coaching ability, but rather his GM abilities. He demanded personnel power, got rid of our best players, gave out huge contracts, and then fell flat on his face. I would have been on board with keeping him if he stepped down from the GM role, but he refused.

Successful coaches have GM power. Belichick, Big Tuna, Walsh, etc.

It takes more than a year or two to get your guys.

He had some bad luck, but he didnt fall flat on his face.

Now you are interviewing Coughlin?

Lol, good luck without a QB.

You fired Chip because your owner is a dumb ass who didnt like it that Chip made him move his stupid holiday party.

Again, people are in charge of things for no reason. Especially owners.

A computer science student is studying under a tree and another pulls up on a flashy new bike. The first student asks, “Where’d you get that?”

The student on the bike replies, “While I was studying outside, a beautiful girl pulled up on her bike. She took off all her clothes and said, ‘You can have anything you want’.”

The first student responds, “Good choice! Her clothes probably wouldn’t have fit you.”

Hey, he's actually a good coach. Now the question becomes whether or not Jed and Baalke can get out of the way well enough for him to succeed. If they were trying to bring in a coach that can still do something with Kaepernick, they found the right guy.

Part of being a good coach is being a good manager of personalities. He was called racist and apparently players hated him. The locker room is half your job in football, and he failed miserably at that half. It is yet to be seen if he can be a long term success in the NFL

How the fuck does Chip Kelly get another job in the same year?

I mourn for the locker room morale.

Players are gonna hate him. Baalke is gonna hate him. Good luck.

It's better to take a chance on him then hire an old retread like Mike Shanahan.

I'm of the opinion that Kelly's downfall was in personnel management department.  He can coach, and if his team wins locker room issues get easily papered over.

Kelly went 26-21 in Philly with awful QBs.  He made Nick Foles a pro-bowl QB with a season with 27 TDs and  2 INTs.   The same Nick Foles that was effectively benched for Case Keenum.  He is a good coach.

Your irrational hatred for Chip Kelly is getting really old.
