Brooks did start for several games last year, Simpson just took it to an elite level. Brooks will be a fine point guard for us, and if he doesn’t see playing time next year, it would be because DeJulius is really really good.

Exactly the fact he played significant minutes as a freshman over a sophomore and 5th year senior shows they like his potential. He isn't going to transfer and he's going to get minutes this year.

Also is this guy even an upgrade over Brooks? He played 28 mpg and scored 1.7 ppg. Ortg in the low 90s. Eli did the same in 5 mpg. Pitt is bad obviously but still. As a recruit they were both 3 stars with Carr being the #27 PG and Brooks #39. Not a huge difference in that range.

Isn't it more likely that Beilein is looking at insurance options in case a team falls in love with Mathews measureables at the combine and starts making him promises?

He scored 20+ points twice, including 22 against UNC, and 15 games in double digits.  TO trend was promising - drastically reduced later in the season.

I could take or leave.  He might end up as a decent backup, but I don't see him making a huge impact. The only guy we potentially need to worry about replacing next year is Matthews, so I'd rather see us laying in a wing-ish guy who could potentially play the 2 or the 3, and he doesn't quite fit the mold.
