Plus World Cup: 3 group stage games, first knockout round, quarters, semis, final.
14 games left.
Unless he gets red carded for all those hand balls.

He's lit it up for 200+ the past two games? Maryland isn't OSU or WI. Just ride that wave!

I was just being silly in my response

It becomes even less likely if Isaac and Walker return.

Maryland's rush defense is ranked significantly worse than Minnesota's, FWIW.

So would Thomas Rawls.
Oh, wait - he didn't get to play...

I liked how Minor ran "angry", but he was never a workhorse (partly because of injuries). He never rushed for more than 533 yards in a season.

When we'd get excited about 1,500-yard rushers (Denard, Hart, Perry, A-Train, Biakabutuka...) Hope those days are here again soon.

with the way they rotate so many backs, but I would also love to see that.

Can you imagine an Iowa backfield of Higdon and Wadley? Almost happened.

I was just checking this out before you were typing this post. Karan is 35th in the nation, and these are his stats from first half of the season vs. second. This is really a testament to how well we've blocked and how committed we've been to the run.
First 5 games - 45 rushes for 201 yards - 4.46 YPC
Last 4 games - 74 rushes for 603 yards - 8.15 YPC
Regardless of how this season finishes, we have a strong outlook on our run game next year.

I don't know what you'd gain from proclaiming him a 1000 yard rusher when he sits at 800. Just wait until he hits 1000 or say how good he has been the last few weeks?
November 5th, 2017 at 11:25 AM ^
This is also a sign that the O-line is FINALLY starting to look and play like a Michigan-worthy O-line. I can't believe that 2011 was the last time we had a 1000-yard rusher.
November 5th, 2017 at 11:48 AM ^
we seriously need to do something about pass pro, or our newly-found QB will get killed back there. I know it's not only the OL, the backs have to help out, too.
November 5th, 2017 at 5:49 PM ^
and while Higdon has been great, often times they're getting to the 2nd level untouched. The OL, TEs, and FBs are really starting to pave people and in such good fashion that we've escaped the plays where 'one guy' biffs it and blows everything up. There are big holes Higdon and Evans are getting to use, and they're making good use of them. The whole rushing O is looking great

Higden has 109 carries for 804 yards, which is 6.8 ypc.
Weber has 60 carries for 275 yards, which is 4.5 ypc.
I think it is safe to say which is the better back.
November 5th, 2017 at 12:23 PM ^
I think Higdon is better, but those stats say almost nothing. They are meaningful only if Weber and Higdon were actually on the same team. UM and OSU have vastly different OLs, QBs, and stables of backs. Some of those factors are in favor of Higdon being the better back, some are not.
November 5th, 2017 at 12:38 PM ^
J.K. Dobbins, playing on the same team as Weber, has 119 carries for 914 yards and 5 TDs. I think Weber's just not that good.
November 5th, 2017 at 1:32 PM ^
That's a more meaningful comparison. And if we imagine Dobbins playing on UM's team, I'd guess that Higdon would still have more ypc than Weber does playing with Dobbins on OSU's team.

Weber would have been nice to get but he did nothing outstanding or overly special.
November 5th, 2017 at 11:28 AM ^
should say 2000 yard rusher.
i mean, why not?
also add: michigan finishes season 10-2 and headed to NYD bowl!

Deceiving topic was deceiving.

Higdon is looking like Fitz Toussaint from the second half of 2011, when he was virtually unstoppable against Illinois, Nebraska and OSU.
November 5th, 2017 at 12:39 PM ^
Fitz was our last RB to cross 1000 yds in a season
