Iowa game last year. We were invited to an Iowa tailgate party. Interesting .....no booze allowed on campus at all. $100.00 fine or possible jail. VERY conservative venue.

This year those Iowa fans are invited to our tailgate for an education as to how M fans party, Should be a real good time. Can't wait!!!

The Iowa game should be a lot of fun. Early enough in the season for warm weather, with darkness in the 4th quarter. Should be a great home atmosphere.

But I got sideline passes for that game through that Mott's donation at the spring game. My kid and I will be partaking of the Circle of Death up close and personal. Now all I have to do is get my game tickets and a couple of Blimpyburgers before the game, and my life will be complete.

I hate you for mentioning Blimpy Burger. Now my mouth is watering with the thought of a triple with egg, bacon and peppers on an onion bun. The grease coating every inch of my stomach, washed down with an ice cold root beer. Problem is I live in Ohio and have a long wait to get one. Gee thanks,  :P

The Iowa-Michigan rivalry is turning into one of the better ones in the Big Ten, outside of the obvious ones.  M and Iowa have played a number of good games over the last decade or so, and a handful lately have been at good time slots.  Hopefully this continues, but hopefully we win them all for a while.

I got the sideline passes for my daughter and I as well. They were very clear about having to be off the field before the game starts but do you think it will include Circle of Death and Touch the Banner? I hope so. Mott is a great cause. Hopefully next year they have something like watch the game from the pressbox or something like that.

I also think that U of M should auction or raffle off the unsold suite and club seats to raise more money for Mott. It's better than having them sit empty.

Time for some payback, cheers!!! That said, l hope we don't get so rowdy as to allow other institutions to sully our fair name! Still a ways to go and I'm sure we will chat about this again, but that is something I hope we keep in mind...

As a resident of Nova Scotia, Canada I have never heard of blimpy burger. After hearing the descriptions, I must say I am tempted to make the 2000 mile drive to Michigan to get one. Is it a franchise found only in Michigan or are there others throughout the USA?

Blimpy Burger Ordering Guidelines - Study Up

When you come in:
1) Every person must stand in line and order their own food.
2) Every person intending to "dine in" must have their OWN tray.  (Food is packed "to go" if you don't have a tray.)
3) Pay attention so we can ask questions about your order.... and please, NO CELL PHONES in line!

When it is your turn to order:
1) First, the deep fryer order: french fries, fried veggies, etc.
2) Then, what size Blimpy: double, triple, quad, quint
3) Next, decide what kind of roll: plain, onion, kaiser, etc.
4) Any grilled items: onions, mushrooms, peppers, etc.
5) Just before the burger comes off the grill, you will be asked to pick what kind of cheese you prefer, if any.
6) After the burger comes off the grill, you will be asked what type of condiments you would like - please start with "wet" items like mayo, ketchup or mustard... and only say what you want and NOT what you don't want!

After you have finished and you are savoring the last bite of Blimpy goodness:
1) Please bus your table and recycle beverage containers.
2) Start planning for your next trip to Blimpys!

Michigan football games should start at 12 noon.  All of them.  This 3 o'clock stuff is lame television pandering.

I actually LOVE the 3pm starts and would be OK if everygame started at that time.  When I was a student, they were great...you had a bit of time to shake off the hangover before jumping back on the pony.  Now I am old and like to get yardwork done before kickoff.

With the noon starts, it was a perfect routine:

2AM - get back from the bar, go to sleep

7AM - wake up, eat, think about starting to drink

8AM - pregame honestly

11:30 - head for the Big house

4PM - make it home, eat/nap in some order

8PM - get ready to go out again

now a 3:30 game time:

2AM - get back from the bar, go to sleep

7AM - wake up, eat, think about starting to drink

8AM - pregame honestly

12Noon - find food, continue drinking, realize you have a whole football game to go through, attempt to pace yourself appropriately

3 - head for Big House

7-8ish Leave game, Starving

8ish - Get home, eat, realize you have no motivation/need a nap/want to go out anyway/Saturday night ruined cuz you could have really used 2 extra hours to nap before going out

Anyway, I preferred the Noon routine, but being a graduate... it doesnt affect me like it once did
