Asked what it would take to go into East Lansing on Tuesday and leave with a victory, Michigan junior Tim Hardaway Jr. kept it simple.

"I think it takes the heart of a Zack Novak," he said, referring to the Wolverines' former three-year captain.

I love Novak!  Part of me is sad we won't really have guys like him in the near future- since part of what makes him great was being unherladed (and part is pleased because it means lots of talent).  It still amazes me that we split the championship last year.  The talent this year compared to last is not particularly close- yet last years team was so special- not sure we will ever have another guy quite look Novak again...  Glad he will be in attendance though- and it's cool to see the THJR shoutout!

The more surprising news (to me) information from the linked article . . . Travis Conlan is Michigan's director of basketball operations?  Really?  Our inexplicable struggles from the foul line are starting to make more sense . . .

I don't know, I found it surprising when our point guard, who was an otherwise skilled player, shot 31% from the line his freshman year.  That's the kind of thing that's less surprising when its a power forward or center who makes it in basketball mainly due to size, but you don't typically see such struggles at the point guard position.

Living in the area, there is quite the intensity up here.  A  "trailer" is making the rounds up here and Sparty as usual is beginning to chirp:

if you want to look at it, go to lsj.com  under "get pumped up with this trailer."  I'm not sharing it on here.

I can't start a thread but I seem to remember hearing that John Hoke was going to be fired from the Chicago Bears. Did that happen, and if so, any word on where he's working or if his brother is looking to hire him?

and for those who Google and find the post above only to start an internet storm saying that J. Hoke was fired, he was not.  Flattering quote from the linked article:

Hoke, entering his 5th season in Chicago, was believed to be in the running for the defensive coordinators position before they hired Mel Tucker. The organization must feel very highly of Hoke, as they blocked him from interviewing with the Vikings last year for their defensive coordinator position.
