To sum it up: the assholes of both programs are bleeding.

Michigan's from their on-field performance (what performance?) and MSU's because they whine and cry about everything.

Clearly the message was that fire roasted marshmellows were available after the game and we brought the stake because our new "plan" is to eliminate the vampire known as Bo Ryan.

Makes perfect sense actually

I always thought the caveat here is that to gain access to the Cursed One you must first survive the Handchecking Forest and pass through the series of trials known as the Ten Offensive Possessions In The Game. Should one survive these, it is possible to destroy Bo Ryan with the Silver Three. That's how I heard it anyway.

This team is a big fucking joke. "Hey i got a great idea let's fire up our in-state rivals who are #8 in the country by putting a stake in their field before the game during the national anthem. That'll show them."

I disagree. The point was to fire up our team, and the only way to feel bad about it is letting someone make you feel that way. Unfortunately, that's what Hoke is doing. That's the pathetic part. He might as well have said "Thank you sir may I have another!?"

It's working perfectly. They couldn't decide on any leaders and now they don't have any leadership.

Before the season they literally had a coach that told the press that NO ONE on the entire roster deserved the title of leader. How is it surprising that the team has been absolutely directionless? Someone might as well have yelled "spoiler alert" at the press conference.

These kids want to fill the void somehow but without any reasonable example to take from the previous administration they're left stabbing MSU's field like it's a god damn vampire and hoping that works.

That sounds believable and if it is true then I think it puts this incident in a completely different light. It wasn't like they took a 6' spear out to the middle of the field to make a point that everyone could see. They did it in the corner of the end zone to motivate the team.

Who gives a crap how it happened or why? This issue was settled on the field as it should have been. This apology crap is stupid. Why shed more light on a situation that nobody really cares about?

You want to know what's even more disrespectful? Not being competitive in a rivalry game!

This is so stupid. At this point just own it. Why issue an apology? You just got your ass handed to you in a rivalry game and then you apologize so the bully won't stomp on your face again? Stupid is as stupid does.

Should have continued: "And because I take full responsibility for this program, I immediately tender my resignation and appoint (your choice of head coach) as interim and future head coach of the program in my stead."

More like the face-slap moment, because it's anindication of how badly you are owned.

It's like Bolden got beat up by the bully so Hoke took him to the bully's house and apologized on his behalf. Meanwhile Mark, who still has Joe and his pals blood all over his knuckles, just smirks and thinks about what a bunch of wussburgers the whole Michigan family are.

I am glad to hear that the player actually cared enough to do this.

I don't think this deserves an apology, though.

I am actually more embarrassed to hear the meaning behind it. Its a weak team building exercise with the tent metaphor.

Now msu tagging and vandalizing the block m on the diag actually requires an apology and reimbursement for the cleanup from msu which we wont get.

No member of MSU's athletic program or university administration can control what some random group of probably 5-6 students or maybe even just fans did. Hoke may not have intended for a stake to be driven into MSU's field, but he kinda thoughtlessly teed it up. It was stupid. I'm not into this kind of hubris, but if you have to do it, save it for when you've actually been kicking someone's ass. I mean, does Hoke coach every game in a vacuum? Does he not remember last year or 2011? Did he just meet Mark Dantonio for the first time? He knew there was a good chance his team were going to get their teeth kicked in and this would look extra-stupid, and he knew damn well Mark Dantonio would turn it into Pearl Harbor meets Watergate, because that's what the guy lives to fucking do.
