The GOAT - Caddy Style
"You haven't lived until you've played golf with a goat as a caddie." This is something no one has ever said or even thought, but it doesn't necessarily make it untrue. And now, one Oregon resort will allow golfers to give goats a try on the course.
The Retreat & Links at Silvies Valley Ranch in Seneca announced the opening of a new seven-hole course called "McVeigh's Gauntlet" in 2018. As if that name wasn't cool enough, golfers will have the option of taking trained goats as caddies when they take on the seven-hole track. Hey, if goats have been allowed to infiltrate yoga, then why not golf? Goats. So hot right now.

Are they trained not to gnaw on your woods?

I don't know about the woods, but they are hell on tin cups.

I don't want a goat gnawing on my wood.

What kind of club recommendation is a goat going to give you?

and generally pretty docile as bucks go. some can be pretty dangerous. we had one for years called calvin. he was way cool. i have little doubt that calvin would've been a fine caddy. weighed somewhere north of 200 lbs and all muscle.

I don't think they would appreciate you showing up and eating your caddy XM

The great thing about this guy is... he'll caddy 18 holes for you in the afternoon... take him home and make a mean curry stew out of him later that night.

I think I just found my summer activity for our fainting goats!

is what you call young/baby goats). doing it later is trouble and more likely to get infected. you might do better just to saw them off short than burn 'em if the goats are grown.
and why fainting goats? seem like novelty pets but hey, maybe they're good milk/meat/hide?

Time to make this thread a different topic entireley -- who you got for greatest caddy of all time?
I'm going with Fluff.

Well, certainly the best advice a caddy ever gave came from Carl Spackler....
"I'd keep playing. I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for quite a while."

Steve Williams. Yeah, it is very "Phil Jackson-esque" but he has carried the bag for 14 majors, including the only one for Adam Scott, and probably could have done a good deal for Greg Norman's performance in majors if the Shark had hung onto him.
Bones was a great caddy too and worked for several other notable players before Phil.
Jack's caddy with the crazy hair was awesome too but word is that Jack asked precisely nothing of his caddies other than to carry the bag and not pass out.

you properly use an apostrophe?
And no, I don't know the names of like all of the golf caddies in history, but I can guarantee you that none of them have been on the bag for 13 major championships.

I honestly thought I could name two, but I can't. Now I'm frustrated. I'll just go with these two on a whim:
- Tom Brown
- Bob Smith

I would have to create different categories of the best caddies.
Stevie Williams--Greatest at keeping secrets. Now way he didn't know about Tigers escapades. Ranks high on the prick meter too.
Mike "Fluff" Cowan--Funniest. Got to spend some time with him and Peter Jacobson back in the mid 80's. Dude was hilarious.
"Gorjus" George Lucas--Most Innovative. He is the creator of the yardage books that tour players and caddies still rely on. BTW..he caddied for a guy by the name of Arnold Palmer. Anything associated with Arnie is cool in my book.
Jim "Bones" Mackay--Best Caddy. This guy had to keep the reigns on the most aggressive player in our time. Did it like a genius.
As for the "greatest"....if we are talking large....Lets go with Herman Mitchell (may he RIP). Guy went well north of 300 while carrying for many years for Lee Trevino, who used to say he always knew the break of a putt based on where Herrman was standing.
