Espn to cut 150 employees

Submitted by FranklinHatchett on
Hey y'all I saw on a couple different news sites that espn is cutting more employees. It's sad cause espn use to be awesome. Y'all think any network can take over and dominate like espn use to? Any chance espn can come back? I heard they renewed there president, which compares to asking the Titanic captain to rise from the grave and captain a ship again if you ask me. Sports center was the best back in the day, you know when they showed highlights. Sorry I don't know how to link a website in here, if someone could do that to help that'd be nice.

Haha man I've addressed this before I don't know what it is that some people think I'm some notorious outlaw from the past. IM NOT MAN. I learned about this website at a party the day of the Maryland game. I'm not trying to slip or not slip I've said it multiple times now... I have a fun/friend voice and a work/serious voice. I don't think that's hard to comprehend but I gues it is haha. Not sure what u mean by behave or how I behave on a website... I mean I'm not gonna act crazy like I saw some people act Saturday on here. No lastly I've not been banned.

While it may be more fun to talk to friends in a less formal tone, it is not easy to read your posts.  To me (and likely other readers) your posts read like you are trying too hard to the point that it feels like a schtick.  Once it feels like a schtick, it become difficult to take anything the poster says seriously.

Pretty much 100% of the time when an edgy new account shows up and starts posting wildly and starting threads, it's not because some new person found and is real excited about MGoBlog suddenly. It's pretty much always a familiar face who is having fun

MGrowOld is one smart cookie and I don't know how he figured it out but he did.... as Franklin states below he was not banned from the site.

Picked up some negatives maybe, but not banned.

you are going so far out of your way to type words that sound like slang when in fact you are obviously a very articulate guy (girl?), eh, make that person.   that's what 'trying too hard' looks like.

This is 100% that maizenblue guy from a couple weeks back. Showed up precisely after the second version was canned, which he couched as some kind of "just give me a chance to not be a troll" before he inevitably started trolling again.

This is no different. He'll slip again. Just give it time, bruh.

This is not on-air talent. It's digital content and production staff, from what I can tell. That means some writers might be let go, but probably none of the names we know. It will hurt their already low-quality live event coverage, though.

big, HUGE difference between "digital media", which is very broad, and "digital news media", or the publishers of original content which is what this article is about.

Yes, digital news media is arguably, probably, almost certainly in a bubble thanks to platforms taking a large amount of digital ad revenue away from traditional publishers, but those platforms are part of what is defined as "digital media" so it's not a larger "digital media" issue, per se.

The interesting thing is, while advertising power is consolidating to the platforms, the platforms are actually enabling an explosion in content creators, micro influencers, etc. that can carve out a niche for themselves thanks to the targeting capabilities of the platforms.

even on this board people post "Omg look at this terrible take!!!!" All that bullshit sells. Until it doesn't, ESPN will try to keep up with losses by cutting tons of good people and giving Stephen A Smith and uh, (the new white dude on first take) huge raises.

I'll tell you what: I've never *liked* ESPN. I've often been glad to have it around so I can see football and basketball games, but the overall tone of that network is annoying as hell (to me, at least) and always has been.
