"Enos will coach a yet to be finalized position group on offense." I take this as he won't be the offensive coordinator.

Or Hamilton. I think I'd rather keep Drevno, but I don't know what I'm talking about either.

Agreed, I'd like to keep Drevno exclusively as an OL coach. He has been very, very good at that in the past and may have just been Peter principled. Let's let him do what he does well.

Not a big fan of the naming of that principle...

Good hire. I hope that he has more say in the offense than Pep when spring practice comes around.

Does this mean Enos is going to be a QB coach, and Harbaugh is going to take a step back from that position group?
Otherwise, RB is the only other group that Enos has recent experience coaching, and it isn't that extensive.
Just not sure this hire moves the ticker that much, especially as a recruiter.

I honestly just searched on 247Sports to see where he was on the recruiter rankings, and the last 2 recruiting cycles he finished 210th (2016) and 214th (2017).

When he was on the msu staff he was very successful in Detroit. Since Wheatley left it feels like we haven't had a great presence in Detroit. If he can bring that back it would be a plus.

It means that "Enos will coach a yet to be finalized position group on offense." I don't see QB, RB, WR, or Broom Closet Maintenance Man in that sentence...

can not wait to see if coach d opens his mouth about taking a former msu coach. his lost our gain.
January 8th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
I just hope we past it more this year.

What exactly did Dantonio lose though? Enos went from being a RB coach at MSU to a HC at CMU. Sounds like a no-brainer promotion to me.
Probably a little worrisome to see Enos take a 12-2 CMU MAC Championship team to back-to-back 3-9 seasons, and an overall 26-36 record. Pretty much reversed all of the progress Brian Kelly and Butch Jones had made for CMU.

This is what I'm starting to think too. I was relieved when it sounded like there would be changes made, but with Sam saying there is nothing immiment on Pep or Drev leaving, it's starting to look like same as last year.

why do you firmly believe that? Harbaugh has never done that, from Stanford to SF to Michigan.
January 8th, 2018 at 7:30 PM ^
Furthermore, I believe Pep is out. There’s enough smoke on various boards to suggest this is real. With regards to Drevno, it would not surprise me if he ends up leaving or remains as OL coach only. We are going to get a new OC - just need to be patient and let this play out.
January 8th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
None of that addresses your certainty in "one dedicated OC." Harbaugh has always used a platoon of playcallers, RGC/PGC duty splits, etc.

Yeah, that doesn't answer Boutros's question though.

And if he's still on the staff when its time to pay, you're not going to? Because that miss will surely make the AD reconsider the choices they've made. You should totally not renew because of an assistant coach!
(I mean, do you even realize how stoopid that sounds?)

but there is no logical scenario where all thee of Drevno, Hamilton and Enos stay on the staff together. Harbaugh knows the MSU and bowl games provew is our offensive scheme needs massive over-hauling.
JH may be the final voice on the play-calling, but he needs some one or maybe two coaches to devise a game-plan week-to-week. This year was a disaster, there was no identity, the only consistency was the lack of execution and the inability of the offense to sustain drives to either take a lead or cement away a game.
Major changes are necessary and he knows it. Where it's scheme or personel. Changes will come.
