Hello Everyone,

Thank you for all the laughs so far this year because your comments and pictures have us cracking up.  I wanted to invite everyone to a fundraiser we are having for our Flint #EATING garden project.   It is at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti.  We will be watching basketball and playing chess.

The capacity is 90 people and its from 4-8pm.

You need tickets so we can make sure theres not to many people and you can get them at http://www.teameating.com

Thank you and hope Harbaugh comes back from Texas with good news.

Basketball, beers, and...chess. I can't say I've ever seen a chess board at a bar, but it could becomes new trend. Instead of hustling the drunks at pool or darts, you can hustle them at a game that 99% of the people have no idea how to play. It genius, you can't lose!

Actually, I saw it once. Many moons ago I watched as two guys played speed chess in a bar. They were showing off a little - each of them slammed the timer like they were going to drill it through the table. They drew quite a crowd, and I'm sure most people were like me: I had no idea what they were doing, but it was fascinating to watch ... and even more fascinating after my third Guinness.

I've tried to play chess after a few too many drinks before, for some reason we thought it would be a good idea at a chill party once.  I kept getting smashed by players who normally wouldn't beat me and I was losing in embarrasing fashion to boot.  I kept blaming the losses on the beer making me bring my queen out too quickly after only 3 moves.

Sad fact I didn't care to admit to everyone that night: I always bring my queen out after 3-6 moves.

Hey Mr. Smith, is this your official #EATING website on kickstarter?

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1021358459/love-michigan-love-football-plant-gardens-eating-p

If so, maybe Brian or one of the META mods can link it on the left somewhere? There are quite a few links over there that are outdated and we only hear of your project a few times a year it seems like. I can't think of a better community-based project from former student athletes that deserves more love and attention.

Good luck and have fun on 3/14!

Thank you and our regular website is teamgardens.org

We do have fundraisers on crowd funding sites.   I am putting together the rest of our blog to post on teamgardens.org.

We have video too that we are working on.  It is nice to hear that people are interested in what we are doing.

Man I'm gonna see if I can get this day off of work, its probably not going to happen, because I just took a new job. But Vincent if I can get the 14th off I'm probably gonna come, and bring my pops. I'd be honored to play a game of chess with you.

Vincent, thank you so much for choosing Flint. I'm from the area and my wife works in the city, and she's told me before how much a community garden could help some of the patients she sees. A project like this is badly needed. I'll email you to see if I can do anything to help.
