Does Metellus have to sit out the first half against Maryland?

Submitted by Chicken22 on

He was ejected in the second half, but it was for fighting, not targeting. Is getting ejected for fighting also a two-half ejection?

for saying something inapproriate and not for fighting, which has anyone seen a shot of him throwing any punches? I only saw him get in the guys face and jawing at him. Ejections for verbal abuse don't result in missing an additional half.

although yesterday Kinnel played somewhat better...

I will withhold final judgement until the individuall ratings are posted.

Have you noticed nobody is challenging Hill much anymore!?...why take a chance I guess.

Safety is the toughest position to play in Don Brown's aggressive defense. The safety is asked to help in run support playing in or near the box and to provide man coverage over the slot across the middle. It's not a traditional safety position where you just sit back and drop into coverage, and clean up the longer runs, it's extremely demanding. So I'm not sure that Metellus or Kinnel are weak links, rather that the safety position is generally vulnerable with such an aggressive scheme. Overall I'd say they are having a pretty good year considering their youth.

Here's the suggested penalty if the fight is in the second half. This is right from the rulebook:

PENALTY—15 yards. For dead-ball fouls, 15 yards from the succeeding spot. Automatic first down for Team B fouls if not in conflict with other rules. Disqualification for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next game [S7, S27 or S38, and S47]. For fighting in the last game of a season, those with remaining eligibility shall serve suspensions during the first game of the next season for which they are eligible.

That officiating crew needs to be disbanded. Between them and the announcers I really could not enjoy the game. Like I said they are insecure and thin skinned. Metellus was ejected for walking up to a guy twice his size and getting his face mask yanked on. The scrum scared the officials and they wanted it over. You only get ejected for throwing punches or kicks, not for wrestling around and having bad language. Insecurity and bias are two things officials should not have, but these pukes reek of it. Wish they would have gotten the Nc State send off. Reminded me of a Iggy Pop concert down at that little club back in the early eighties. I know someone will be able to put the two together and figure out what I am talking about. Nc State send off and Iggy Pop concerts.

And this is a bit of a hot take...but I'm really not concerned. He's been exposed as a timid and ineffective tackler, and has been suspect in coverage as well. I'd like to see whoever is behind him get some playing time.

Seriously.

Glasgow's been visible when he missed a special teams tackle in the Orange Bowl and got torched in Happy Valley.

Though, give him credit for tackling Ohio State's punter last year.

After Glasgow the depth chart appears to be three freshmen...Hawkins, Kelly-Powell, and Woods.

Aside from the tackling and sub par coverage, he's had a good year!

In reality I realize there's a reason that, despite his less than stellar performances, he's still been the starter every week. That probably points to deficiencies in the guys behind him more than anything else. I think a couple quarters will be a good opportunity to see how the guys behind him are coming along. Will need the depth in the long run anyway.

Type of thread before and after every game to learn who is who and how they call games.

If enough accurate data is collected over time it would educate everyone on biases and trends. Then just maybe, over time the thread goes viral and those assholes look over their shoulder a bit and call a more fair game, which is all we ask for.
