Dave Wannstedt Just Put Michigan on "Upset Alert" vs. MSU; Michigan now Virtually Guaranteed to Win

Submitted by FauxMo on

On "BIG Football and Beyond" on BTN, Wannstedt first said we are on "upset alert," then flat-out predicted MSU will win. Based on Wannstedt's coaching resume, this guarantees that Michigan will win in a blowout. FYI Dave, Don Brown also has a better "Salty Retired Police Captain Who's Seen Too Much in His Life" mustache than you do...

It’s Michigan MSU. It’s usually close even when either team is bad. With that said I think we win it 27-10

Was Dave watching MSU's offense last week? Our offense may be a question mark BUT at the very least our defense and special teams are going to give us some short fields to work with that should result, at the least, in field goals. If State's offense played like they did against Iowa and Notre Dame, I don't see them putting that many points on us.

Right after he said it, J Leman made a comment about "not really knowing much about MSU at this point." Wannstedt agreed he didn't either, to which Leman responded, "um, but you're picking them to upset Michigan?" Wannstedt said "YEAH!" He's not the brightest solar mass in the universal firmament...

Is that for real? This is precisely why I refuse to watch shows like this. How much actual time do you suppose Dave Wannstedt or Paul Finebaum actually spends researching the teams they pontificate about? And still these people call in and ask them for their expert opinions.

think we will win but I honestly don't know if we have the offensive capability to blow a team out right now.  Like, any team.

None on the schedule, at least. That is fine, too. We have an elite defense and defensive coordinator. As long as the defense does well and the offense can be just good enough to get a few TDs or FGs, we'll win. The defense has allowed only forty points to date.

We've beaten every team we've played so far by 2-3 possessions. That's solid beatdowns left and right. I'm not sure what more we are supposed to be doing.

That's what I want to know. Did he give any reasons WHY he thinks Michigan will lose? That's what I hate about these shows sometimes. They just say stuff for shock value but don't present any reasoning to support it or how they came to that decision.

He's not going to give any reasons, because he really does not beleive it. He is just running his mouth because he routes for the underdog or he just does not like Michigan. Either way he will be called out on it and made to look the fool. This asshole had fsu winning the national championship. I have no idea why this clown is on btn anyways.

Come to think of it, before last week I never heard of Brando either.

Talking down Michigan gets them some clicks I guess....

Its a rivalry game, so expect the unexpected. With that said, I imagine JOK is going to see biltz after biltz early on. If he can handle the pressure early on, I think we win easily. If JOK doesn't, it will be a nail-biter.

I'm certainly more worried about this game than I was a month ago.  But losing your starting QB, and a starting WR to injury probably plays more into that then anything.

Our defense will keep every game close, but close games can be decided on a few fluke plays.

While I want people to keep underestimating UM, I don't see why they keep doing it. It will be a fairly close game, but UM wins this one. I just hope (and expect) Harbaugh to be prepared for trick plays and fake kicks and all that shit. Dantonio loves to do that when it's the least expected. If memory serves, Dantonio did some kind of trick play or fake kick in both games versus Harbaugh and (again, if memory serves) they didn't work.

if you think really hard there was a period of about like 25 seconds in the fourth quarter when Michigan fans started to feel like they could pull away.  I think it was 23-14 and there offense was not doing much of anything.  Then some dude named Pendleton rumbled like 80 yards for a touchdown and it was stressful again.
