Charles Matthews Appreciation Thread

Submitted by Occam's Razor on

He's been a rock with his driving ability and midrange game whenever our shots haven't been falling.

That when my nerves are frayed (i.e. Michigan is in a slump during a game) that Matthews is a constant catalyst to keep M driving forward. He was truly clutch in this game

I’ll be 100% honest, hard on these guys at times. Not great shooters, but they are TOUGH! Matthews and Z won them the game tonight. I love this team. So many options. Mo can’t make shots.....will make it harder, but we will grind it out.

and several deflections that did or almost did turn into steals (that I don't think he gets credit for, just the guy that gains possession of the ball).

He was everywhere tonight.  Oh, and he only allowed FSU's best player to take 2 shots with 4 TOs in 35 minutes! Matthews was outstanding.

tournament and agree he was huge tonight.  Very well done Charles and Michigan Basketball.      Led Michigan to gritty, great win and trip to Final 4.

Charles is definitely willing to mix it up down low and is never scurred (maybe on the line sometimes). Love his intensity all tourney. Thanks to him I am working like crazy to book a trip to San Antonio.

Set the tone when he made the block on MSU in the BIG tournament and stared him down. Haven’t had a guy set the tone like that in a long time.

every NCAA Tournament game this season so far. He has really come on as of late after a mini slump mid-season.  If he can improve his 3 pt shooting, sky is the limit for Matthews.

I think most of us were miffed by his play for most of the year. But he has redeemed himself in the tournament. Even his FTs look different. He was pretty automatic and hitting nothing but net from the line. Remarkable and TIMELY turn around.

Matthews has been absolutely incredible.

Honestly, i didn't think he was going to turn the corner 3/4 into the season...seemed to play a bit too much hero ball...

He saved Michigan ass a number of times.

Happy for him...he's a star

to the Matthews bandwagon, but man am I on it now...he has been one of the most crucial pieces in the BTT and NCAA Tourney

Matthews is one cool customer.

And he's never intimidated no matter how big and athletic the opposition.

This is exactly the type of game where he is so valuable to us.

Great game - great tournament!

His slump in the middle of the season got him pulled back from the offense some.  That seems to have had an affect on his play.  He worked through that, and came out on the other side absolutely leading this team.  And he's been gold money in both the BTT and the NCAAs.  His turnaround deserves this thread, let alone his game tonight!

Matthews got shit on all season by a lot of dude's here. Since he's been a huge contributor in the tournament, it's good to see him get his due.... Yuge!
