What he tweeted as a public figure was dumb. What he said I guarantee 90% of men say with their friends at the bar or during a game.

When is it not a pleasant surprise when women know their sports? Now obviously 99% is hyperbole, but I'm willing to wager more men follow sports closely than women hence the notion.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that

Sorry pal, you and your buddies may do that. "90% of men" don't.

was directed at your guarantee that nine out of ten men say the same thing Jones did, not your claim that more men follow sports than women.

Didn't expect that here.  I expected what I've read and SOME of the comments have been funny.

As on OSU fan, I'm prepared for the homer label but I think this is way overblown.  I think it is pretty clear he was trying to make jokes (jokes that have been made by plenty a stand up comedian) and not trying to truly disparage half the population.

I grant it looks bad, but I don't think in any context it really is.

NOW, what is unequivocally stupid is the "OMG I WAZ HACKED!!!!"

I think it's pretty clear from the grammar used on those tweets that it is definitely from Mr. we don't come here to play school. At least he was honest about that. From his grammar no one will dispute that he is most assuredly not playing school down there in Columbus.

Well, if he wants to be a comedian, he should go on a reality show or hit open mic night. Otherwise, he should probably think twice (or three times) about the things he posts on Twitter.

Also, as you acknowledge, he shouldn't lie to us and tell us he was hacked. Nobody's going to hack him so they can tell lame jokes about women on his Twitter account.

Wait, what?

I get you are making the very basic point that certain sports probably have more male fans than female, but I'm going to guess that there are some sports (just not covered here or most other places with nearly the gusto of football or basketball) where female fans care a hell of a lot more than men.  Hell, the vast majority of people around here cared about softball because Michigan was good at it, and who largely rooted for the team because they were affiliated with UM, which is basically the same "I like the uniforms" argument.

Cardale Jones, a man who once tweeted he didn't go to OSU to play school, posted something dumb on social media.  Color me unsurprised "hacked twitter" account aside.

I didn't see anything special on the field from Jones.  He looked ok, but not great.  There is something to be said for not imploding, considering the circumstances, but people are talking about him like he is someone to be feared as a passer instead of a guy you can count of to not kill your chances of winning a game.

100% of the time when athletes or celebrities say something stupid on Twitter they claim they were hacked.

100% of the time they claim they were hacked they are lying.

But it's so much easier to treat everyone like the elderly and proclaim you were "HACKED! OH NO!! SCARY INTERNETS!!" than to apologize for making some mildly offensive statement, or worse yet, stand by your damn convictions that you were just so proud to share with the world not 5 minutes ago.

I honestly don't understand why people think "Oops, I was hacked!" is a believable explanation when getting called out for posting something inflammatory. It would be more believable if they told us that a friend grabbed their phone while they were in the bathroom or they left it at their house, but NOBODY uses that excuse. It's always, "Derp, I was HACKED, LOL"

"As bad as those tweets were, Jones was at least smart to say he was hacked."

Really, Larry Brown? We're rewarding this lame ass excuse now?

Ohio State education at work there, folks.

No, wait.  I'm being unfair to Ohio State.  He does not actually go to any classes.

I assume that the "tutors" that do all the work for him have better grammer.  That may or may not be a safe assumption.

Maybe he should delete the account?

Everyone gets hacked when they say something stupid. Jones gets hacked frequently. Yeah I believe it.

I'm sorry - but I have to respond to this.  since it is common practice to point out poor grammar, I feel there is or should also be license to point out that terms such as "retarded" are offensive and have been recognized as such for awhile.

Here is a recentish post on when it is ok to use the word:

for those not interested in following the link, the answer is never. Find another word.
