Best thing you saw: Week 2017

Submitted by mi93 on

It's been another fun year with all of you.  And quite an interesting year.  I saw some pretty awesome things.  I hope you did too.  On with my picks:

M division: The end of an era in hockey, the coming on of a young football team, women's basketball starting to turn decidedly north.  All nice.  My favorite - and one of the most amazing in all sport in many years - a plane skidding off a runway, a team bonding to get on board another, and making a playoff and tournament run a D-reb / Walton jumper from Elite status.  I still get chills thinking about what they went through.

Non-M: I'm not even sure where to start, so instead, will make it more personal.  I got to see my kids get a year older and find new passions, crossed off a bucket list item (with, god-willing, many more to see/do), and got to enjoy many of you making me laugh.

I hope 2018 is even better for you and for Blue!

What you got?

EDIT: Woof.  Nothing like starting the year with a typo, in the title no less.  Happy New Year all.

was the Florida game,  It was pretty darned awesome and really made my week.

Best non UM thing: got married on Penn state game day.  So instead of watching a bad game, I got to watch my beautiful wife in her wedding dress.  Good times.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Worst thing I saw was -24*F on my pickup yesterday morning. I love to icefish but that is just uncalled for.

Best M thing: probably Peters coming in and playing well. This year was going to be a challenge, we knew that. Defense had to replace pieces, offense lost a lot of production. The pieces are going to be there next year. That was enough.

Football handled themselves well through a challenging transition year and a lot of young guys stepped up. It's easy to be optimistic heading into a new season, but I feel good about 2018.

Big Ten has established itself as the first or second best conference, in my opinion, with cause for optimism that even some of the B1G laggards (but not Rutgers) will continue to improve.

Marlon Mack eviscerating Clowney with a stiff arm despite being half his size and a rookie, hopefully taking away some of the bragging rights for his hit against us. He blew up a 5'7 170 pound kid unblocked, it was never impressive in the first place.

Melt down from 30-point beatdowns at Crisler. That team last year will always have a special place in my heart. Far, far better than their record indicated and they won the games that mattered (revenge games, ranked matchups, etc)
