Bad day for Top 10 in Mens Bball
#6 Purdue lost to Wisconsin 57-53. #5 Cincinnati lost to Houston 67-62. And, wait for it... PSU killed OSU 79-56 (UPDATED)
OSU will still be ranked #8 on Sunday b/f new poll comes out. Chance for a top 10 win, a quadrant 1 win, a senior day win, a resume win, a rivalry win. This year's tourney is wide open. I know that is cliche, but look at today's results and tell me that it is not especially true this year. Let's go blue!

Now we beat osu and msu will win the big ten outright
February 15th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
MSU plays at NW and Troll Center yet. Anything can happen.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
So we whupped the likely Big Ten champions by double digits on their own court.
I’m good with it.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
Beating OSU would be amazing - don't care about MSU's potential B1G title. They have way bigger problems to contend with there. It won't have an asterisk, but I am thinking no one outside of EL will give that university much credit any time soon (even if their team earns some)
February 15th, 2018 at 11:16 PM ^
having to vacate the title anyway.
February 16th, 2018 at 9:36 AM ^
Who cares? This is Ohio State we're talking about here. WIN THE GAME!
February 16th, 2018 at 11:05 AM ^
now Penn State is starting to look quite terrifying.
February 16th, 2018 at 11:42 AM ^
THIS.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
Osu will still be a top 10
Team til Monday

nambla valley leading the cooler poopers.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:41 PM ^
this comment cracked me up.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:07 PM ^
Go team Brando!?
February 15th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
I don’t care if OSU is unranked and winless. Just beat them.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
but beyond those two, anybody in the country has a chance at the Final Four this year. including UM.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
Yup good ole blue blood Xavier. Probably not a lock since they've never made a final four in their existence
February 15th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
first time for everything
February 15th, 2018 at 11:27 PM ^
I, unfortunately, live in Cedar Falls, IA and went to the Xavier at UNI game in Decmeber. Xavier was good, but watching them in person you could tell no way are they a Final Four team. UNC blew Michigan's doors off, Xavier couldn't. Now, Butler on the other hand...
February 15th, 2018 at 10:42 PM ^
Villanova has commenced their usual tournament choking early. Really, I don't see anyone as a lock right now. They all have warts and it is going to make a great NCAA Basketball Tournament.
February 15th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
You mean the team that won the national championship <2 years ago?
February 15th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
To be fair Nova finally broke through lately after choking so often. Gonzaga last year too. Xavier is up next...maybe.
February 16th, 2018 at 12:13 AM ^
Except for that year, Jay Wright and Rick Barnes are the top two bracket busting coaches.
February 16th, 2018 at 10:28 AM ^
and you backed it up... I respect it.
February 16th, 2018 at 12:20 AM ^
I read that as locks for 1 seeds, nodded in agreement, and then looked closer and it's final four?!?!
Please can we bet on that somehow? They each have about a 25% chance.
February 15th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
There are no locks in the NCAA tournament when it comes to making the final four.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:32 PM ^
chaos reigns.
@Psu is gonna be 2sp00ky4me
February 15th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
the asu coach is a dick
February 15th, 2018 at 9:35 PM ^
bucks making a run
February 15th, 2018 at 9:43 PM ^
They win tonight, we get a chance to ruin their B1G title and beat a legitimate top 10 team. They lose, lol...
February 15th, 2018 at 9:50 PM ^
We wouldn't really be ruining anything in that case - they'd still be in first with a loss.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:56 PM ^
Forgot they have the tiebreaker with MSU in that scenario. Looking like a moot point now.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:44 PM ^
OSU goes on an 18-4 run. Yuck
February 15th, 2018 at 9:51 PM ^
Stupid roaring lion team that should have suffered the death penalty versus worst school ever.
February 15th, 2018 at 9:56 PM ^
I didn't even realize that Ped St was favored tonight, college basketbal is weird
February 15th, 2018 at 10:27 PM ^
his huge
February 15th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
by conventional wisdom, they're playing great and already beat OSU at OSU so they seem to match up well. Easy pick to go with PSU.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:02 PM ^
If we can finally get the job done against OSU, I'm not crazy about handing MSU the conference title as a result.
Would the media kiss Izzo's ass for this kind of success on the heels of the stress of what has unfolded at MSU? I don't think I could stomach it.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:10 PM ^
I could live with it. We’ve already beaten MSU this year. Convincingly, and on their own court.
What I don’t want is to get swept by OSU, watch their coach win an outright title in his first year, and put up with another offseason hearing about how Michigan chokes in any and all matchups against that school.
February 15th, 2018 at 11:15 PM ^
since MSU is probably going to win out. So the scenarios are probably:
1) We beat OSU and MSU wins outright.
2) We lose to OSU and our rivals both get a conf title.
I will take scenario 1 all day, every day, please.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:12 PM ^
MSU wins a share if they win out anyways.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:20 PM ^
They’ll realize it as a fluke of scheduling. MSU is 1-2 against tournament bound big ten teams
February 15th, 2018 at 11:38 PM ^
will probably be tourney bound. Very good chance for the winner of the PSU at Nebraska game, and possibly the loser depending on what PSU does in their next two games (two more opps for quality wins).
Even still, MSU didn't have to travel to either Lincoln or Happy Valley, two very tough places to play. Such a joke schedule they played.
February 16th, 2018 at 6:10 AM ^
MSU also didn't travel to Ann Arbor or West Lafayette. They played five games against their top five opponents, four at home. Unreal.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:05 PM ^
And some werent impressed with our win at the Kohl centrer smh
February 15th, 2018 at 10:57 PM ^
Any B1G road win is a quality win, it’s hard as hell to win on the road.
February 15th, 2018 at 11:16 PM ^
on the road. Only possible beef I could see is the defense in the second half, but the overall outcome of Sunday's game was great.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:07 PM ^
As much as i hate OSU their loss against PSU could hurt us in the big ten standings. Now we have to beat PSU to stay ahead of them
February 15th, 2018 at 11:26 PM ^
end to their season. At Purdue and at Nebraska in addition to hosting us. Despite them jumping all the way up to 28th in kenpom, they're still projected to finish a game behind us even though they're projected to beat us.
The most likely scenario for both teams:
M beats OSU, loses at PSU and at Maryland to finish 11-7
PSU loses at Purdue, beats us and loses at Nebraska to finish 10-8
If we win 2 of 3, we'd be all but assured of finishing ahead of them even if our one loss would be to them, but let's just win all the games.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:16 PM ^
Hopefully we’re catching OSU at the right time. Got a little momentum of our own and they’re coming to town after getting bludgeoned by a decent but not very good PSU team.
I expect a close game regardless, but I hope this team plays like it’s out for blood on Sunday.
February 15th, 2018 at 10:18 PM ^
That final score is an eyebrow raiser . 79-56? The game in Columbus I could write off as a fluke (a glorious and hysterical fluke) but this is an ass kicking.
I'm suddenly not looking forward to us traveling to Penn State.
February 15th, 2018 at 11:19 PM ^
I have been for a few weeks. I saw them early on and knew they had some players. They weren't doing great but they scared me and I had them half penciled in as one of our remaining losses (i.e. I thought a 6-2 finish but was leaning toward 5-3 and that 3rd one being at Penn St.). Well, sure enough they're playing really well and have a really talented dude...and we going into their domain. As weak a home court as it is, I've a feeling the fans will be pumped and show up as another win, over a good squad like us, probably officially launched them into the tournament.
