Annual 30 for 30 ideas thread

Submitted by Jumpman Maize on
After watching the NC state 30 for 30 last night, I began wondering what UM 30s I'd like to be made. Did q little searching, and this thread was created in 2010 and February, so thought it'd be okay. My idea: JUBs Endzone including a three and out type access to his first season here, with locker room footage, interview and all. Any ideas?

really Michigan specific, no. How about 30 for 30 - "Ten seconds in the Big House." Would anybody want to check that out?!

Another good one would be Sweet Lou/Alan Trammell - the most under appreciated duo in baseball...ever

EDIT:  oops, not UM specific....But still would be good.

I'll enthusiastically second the Trammell / Whitaker idea - I can't think of very many duos in baseball that were so central to the success of a team but have, in the course of years, gotten as little appreciation outside their own fanbase. The interview lineup for this one would be a nice little blast from the past for Tigers fans, but it is also a great baseball story.

If Harbaugh wins a national title the whole coaching search and how everything lined up perfectly would be very cool especially seeing all the clips of NFL reporters saying no chance.

How DJ Durkin wronged a nation by interviewing for a head coaching job while spending 30 minutes installing a 3-3-5 defense during the week and smiling all game thinking "don't care" while his defense was terrorized for 42 pts.

I think it would be timely.

BLL and 3&O together would be a good one. Co-sign on Tram and Lou. Maybe that can get them in the Hall of Fame finally. Also love the 90s Avs-Wings rivalry. Only rivalry in pros where the players really hated each other. Start w Quebec move and the Lindros draft. And the Russian 5. I'll save some of my Michigan film ideas because we may actually make them.

It's interesting how that whole thing worked out. If not for the Wings scoring 9 goals on Roy in Montreal, they probably don't trade him to Colorado and the rivalry would not be the same.

He was supposed to play at Michigan.

At the time, Red Berenson was starting to bring in major talent from the Toronto area. Lindros was drafted by Sault Ste. Marie and refused to sign, but they couldn't trade him for a year because he was a 1st round pick and it wasn't allowed.

Lindros was taking a bus from Toronto to Farmington Hills and playing for Compuware, so the OHL changed the rule. He was traded to Oshawa and signed right away.

I'd like to see a 30 for 30 on the hiring of Harbaugh. Have interviews with people at the 49ers and with Michigan. Get Harbaugh to say something about it all. Throw in Jack for some fun. It wouldn't be something you could do for some time. Obviously people aren't going to talk about it right now.

American Colosseum: How Michigan Stadium was Built

basically a historical piece going through how the Big House was built and how they did it way back when, then they can go in-depth on present day things like all the moving parts and procedures that happen on a game day

I watched the Hillsborough Stadium disaster one but I've always wanted to know more about the mentality, tradition and thought process behind these groups.

Among the Thugs by Bill Buford is a great introduction to Football Hooligans from an American perspective.

I would LOVE to see one about Fielding Yost. I'm totally fascinated by him and especially his record. Like how do you out score your opponents 550-0 in one season??? It would be awesome to reconstruct the point-a-minute offense and why it was so effective at the time as well as why it could never work in contemporary football.
