#9 Michigan Field Hockey beats Ohio State for 7th straight time

Same score as last year, but a different game.

#9 Michigan traveled to OSU earlier this afternoon for the first time in 3 years.

The Wolverines dominated play in the first half, outshooting the Buckeyes 8-1 and out-cornering them 6-0. Despite close calls and the stats being in Michigan's favor, the ball just wouldn't go in.

The second half was basically the reverse of the 1st half. OSU outshot Michigan 9-1 and out-cornered Michigan 7-1.

Goalie Sam Swenson was outstanding yet again, making 7 of her 8 saves on the day in that second half. Michigan blocked 4 OSU penalty corners in the final 4 minutes.

It was an oppressive heat today all over the Midwest and it was no different down there. An extra break in the middle of halves was added so teams could cool down.

In the OT period, Guadalupe Fernandez Lacourt fed Emma Way right in front of the cage, who then tipped the ball in for the game-winning goal.

Michigan beats Ohio State, 1-0 in OT.

This is the 7th straight win for Michigan over OSU, widening the gap on a series record that was just a 4 game Michigan lead back in 2011. Michigan now leads the all-time series, 37-26-2.

This was a must-win game to stay in good shape for the B1G Championship. This is a 2 game B1G season. The first one of those matchups comes on Sunday.

Next up, Michigan will go East and take on #3 Penn State on the road. A top-10 matchup and a win here would put Michigan in the driver's seat for the B1G Championship.

Michigan is now 6-2 and 2-0 in the B1G.

Game-winning OT goal.

Notice how there's no sound. Ol dumbo at OSU not only charges money for streams, but it doesn't even have sound. Just a silent camera shot.

Even Rutgers does a better job with their coverage.

Don't care until we actually beat them at football. I'm beginning to wonder if it will ever happen again. We're like the Buffalo Bills in the super bowl when we play Ohio state.
