#16 WBB hands MSU their worst loss in series history

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

The #16 ranked Wolverine women followed up their phenomenal week last week that included an upset win at #8 OSU and a thrashing of Illinois with an absolute beatdown of their in-state rivals.

Michigan got out to a 20-6 lead in this one tonight. Was a runaway. Michigan Basketball's all-time leading scorer Katelynn Flaherty went off for 26 points tonight, including 4-6 from behind the arc.

Nicole Munger was equally impressive with 13 points tonight, 9 of them coming on 3s.

Michigan handed MSU their worst loss in the 45-year series history, 74-48. The 26-point victory was Michigan's largest since a 17 point win on 11/22/1997.

Thank you for this Chuck Norris ... i see stuff like this all the time, like on ESPN bottom line they write something like "Barry Bonds hit his 43rd  homerun of the season, the most he hit since he had 37 three years ago" or "Arkansas threw for 412 yards today vs Ole Miss, the most yards passing they have had since they had 381 vs UConn in 1993" ..

I have never understood this,if someone knows why they (or people) do this can they please explain it to me ....

WD's girlfriend was hot from behind the arc tonight - no pun intended.  The game was never close and the lead was even larger until Sparty got some points in garbage time.  Decent crowd.  I liked the Detroit Pistons Extreme Team at halftime.

I’m really happy for this team but I wonder how good they really are. I don’t follow WBB much but how would they match up against UCONN? Would it be close or would they lose 70-40? I would love to see them meet UCONN in the final four

They have played both Notre Dame and Louisville -- both ranked in the Top 5 at the time -- and got trounced by 20 or more points by both.  But, those games were very early in the season and the team has been improving dramatically.  They are perfecting their 2-3 zone defense; their freshmen (Deja Church and Hailey Brown) are becoming major contributors; and their upper class stars (Flaherty, Thome, Dunston, and Munger) have all hit their stride.

That said, 70-40 against UConn sounds about right.

I noticed that Maryland crushed OSU also, giving the Buckeyes their 2nd B1G loss. UM and OSU are now both one game back from MD, who we happen to have our final game against at home. If we take care of business it could be for the title?
