All these years and I still miss his radio presence.  You don't forget people in life who made you happy.

Do you have a video clip of the halftime show of the Iowa game in early October 1981? I remember the Michigan Marching Band spelling out "UFER" at midfield in Bob's honor, and have often seen pictures of Ufer leaning out the radio booth waving in thanks to the crowd. But I would love to see a video if it exists.

An MMB trombone alumnus created this Bob Ufer series a few years ago. This particular episode has clips from the Iowa game starting around 4:36, though I'd recommend the whole video. I'm not sure where GhostsofMichigan got the source video of the game, perhaps WolverineHistorian or Dr. Sap would know where to find it?

Thanks so very much for that video. Funny thing, but I have the audio CD set to that and have listened numerous times to it on Football Saturdays on the drive to Ann Arbor, but until now never saw the video. Unbelievably, I wasn't even aware that it even existed. From the bottom of my Cotton pickin Maize and Blue heart... Thank you!

"39 years ago" Tom Harmon had scored. Ufer cut that recording 37 years ago, an era that has always felt like recent history to me, describing an era so ancient we barely have film reels of it.

Time is a funny thing.

in 1979, up from Virginia to go to the homecoming game against Indiana. Of course we all expected a Michigan domination. Went to the pep rally on the diag with the car smash and the Bob Ufer pep rally, then the mud bowl the next morning, followed by the game. We sat in row 11 in the south end zone, and A.C. ran right at us. You bet I tear up every time I hear Ufer's call of that play, with or without the video to accompany it.
