Derrick Green [Open] Thread
Today is the day. In about 4 hours from now at 4PM EST, Hermitage RB Derrick Green will announce his decision. Finalists include Michigan, Tennessee, and Auburn.
Story from newspaper that will cover the announcement live: http://bit.ly/VoJlH6
Mod edit: Changed the name of the thread to discourage the otherwise inevitable onslaught of board posts. Unless Green or someone close to the situation confirms his choice before the announcement, there doesn't need to be another thread posted. If someone wants to start an announcement open thread sometime close to 4:00, go for it. JGB.

I don't understand why there is this intense aversion to starting new threads on an internet message board - a place designed for discussion. If someone starts a thread and no one responds, it'll drop off the first page pretty quickly. If it does garner responses, then obviously it was worth posting in the first place. So what's the problem?

I was very suspicious yesterday when Ira said that Sam was on special assignment. Didn't want to get my hopes up. Looks like he has confirmed this on Twitter. Fingers crossed.

Because Sam Webb is the most connected man in the Michigan recruiting universe and he wouldn't swing by the announcement if he didn't know something, IMO.

Sam Webb is pretty connected. His "gut feelings" generally pan out.

Love Sam, but he's always overly optimisitc where Michigan is concerned.

FWIW, Kenny Bigelow (USC Commit and Army All American teammate) told Green on Twitter just a couple hours ago:

If you're gonna sit around and wait for Green all day, you should buy a "Forever Comfy". Your back will feel almost as good as your bottom...

We work twice as hard as anyone in Europe. So what we have a bunch of shit we don't need. I understand their jealously, but they sure don't deny our help when some 3rd world country threatens a nuke or kills some children.
January 26th, 2013 at 2:16 PM ^
It's contempt. They view us as vain, wasteful, and ignorant of world affairs. It's hard to say they're wrong, we all need to look in the mirror on occasion.

He tweeted that he's making his college deceleration today. So... he's going to slow down college?
January 26th, 2013 at 1:04 PM ^
Well, if he does indeed run a 4.3 40, then the rest of college football will seem slow by comparison, thus proving Einstein correct once again. Sort of.
