I think it works for them, b/c its so unique. I actually like the architecture / design of Boise's stadium too, kind of looks like a open air hockey arena with a football field

But think about the brand identification they have. This is a small school in Idaho, and yet practically college football fan can instantly recognize a game played at their stadium when it's on TV. That's a big deal.

This is true. Though, as it is with any sport, they just have to keep winning. I think they'd be fine without the blue turf, but I like my playing surfaces green and, well, less seizure inducing.

haven't gone custom color-ed turf, especially some of these "I wanna be Zombie Nation RAWK" schools.. like Nike springing for a neon yellow turf to match those hideous Duck jerseys.
Other possibilities:
- Texas Tech with black turf
- Northwestern with purple turf
And no, I do not want night games with maize jerseys and metallica intro music.... but maybe the hockey band learning "whammer jammer" by J Geils Band would be nice...

but I think the NCAA now has a rule stating that the field must be green in color, with Boise's field being grandfathered in. Again though - I could be wrong.
And to be perfectly fair if I were a Boise fan I'd probably love the field. As a non-fan, and someone completely ambivalent to Boise as a team, I dislike it.

reading that entry you linked to, I saw Boise is 64-2 since 1999 at home, with the only two losses coming to wash St in 2001 and BC in a bowl game in 2005 (Matt Ryan led Eagles?). I guess roll on blue turf-ers, roll on.

I know they are rolling at home, but on ESPN they just did their trivia question. "How many games has Boise State played at home vs. ranked teams since 1999." The answer was ONE- tonight. Guess that is what happens when you play in the WAC!

I was just on the turf in February, and it's FieldTurf (well, that type of turf), and it's in good shape. I think your tv is just sulking for some reason.

It probably doesn't bother them too much, since they see it all of the time in practice. The opposing QB, however, might have trouble seeing the DBs.

watching this game BSU has an unfair advantage with that blue turf and their all blue uniforms. How the hell is the opposing QB supposed to see those safeties and LBs? I just hate that blue turf..
