The Portal is officially CLOSED

...and it closes for grad transfers today.

  • Anyone in the portal can sign with a team whenever. So anyone in the portal now is still available to Michigan. I do not believe there were any late last-minute surprises.
  • The NCAA changed it's rule and grad transfers have to he in the portal today or they will lose their eligibility for the fall. I am unsure if a grad transfer can enter tomorrow (undergrads can't - their window closed at 11:59pm last night) and be eligible next spring for their new university...that said, no one would do that unless they are currently injured and out for the season and plan to sleep next year.

The portal never technically closes. However, jumping in the portal now would mean: A) That you would lose your eligibility at your current school. And, B) That you wouldn't be eligible for next season at your next school. So, the portal is effectively closed.

Football portal for underclassmen closed at 11:59:59 p.m. last night. Portal for basketball and football grads closes tonight at 11:59:59 p.m.

Expect to hear names entered into the portal through Friday, though, as schools have 48 hours to comply with portal requests.

MSU hires something other than human garbage to coach their program for the first time in at least a generation and twenty players jump ship.

Everyone wants to make that a statement of where MSU is, but I think it's a horrifying revelation of what it was.  I mean, we have tons of evidence otherwise, but this also basically confirms the Dantonio Express running between Spartan Stadium and the local correctional facility was hardly a joke.

Instead of laughing, I think little brother deserves what my second-grade teacher did when we'd misbehave. She'd cross her arms, fix us with a withering expression of pure disgust, shake her head and mutter "Mm Mm Mm." As if she couldn't believe that any child could be so stupid, so backward, and so inept.

Woman could say more with three sounds than lawyers could say in a closing argument.

This, like vestigial tails or those really long roots on our canine teeth, is one of the last remnants  of the NCAA's control over athletes.  I can't wait for this to go to court and get bounced out of the continuum.  The NCAA was birthed in exploitation and nurtured by greed. It's stain needs to be wiped from the earth.

Yeah. Sure. It may be technically closed, but I doubt its ever really going to be closed again.

As Lionel Hutz would say:

"There's, the truth........and, THE TRUTH!!"

Keep in mind that while the basketball portal closes tonight, what that means is that you have until midnight to inform your current school that you will be entering the portal. . So there will be names you hear about in the next couple of days as they're processed. There is no restriction on joining your new team at any given time, so people will still be signing up with their next team for the next few weeks. The date to exit the draft is at the end of the month, so that will probably be when most players make their final selections.

Last thing I remember
I was running for the portal
Had to find the passage back to the place I was before
"Relax", said the bag man
"We are programmed to receive"
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave

I really hope the staff is in contact with Elijiah Badger. Class of 2020 WR out of ASU. Caught 65 and 70 passes the past two years. 6’2.
Seems like someone you would want to offer a nice size cheeseburger to.

While he could probably insert himself right into the starting lineup almost immediately, Michigan has a few things going against it.

  1. Our QB situation looks extremely shaky right now. We have no idea who's going to be throwing the ball next year, and if that QB is going to be able to reliably throw the ball at all.
  2. We are a very, very run-oriented team until proven otherwise. I don't doubt that Sherrone will start forming his own identity, unique from Harbaugh's, in the coming years. But for now, the personnel and make-up of this team is designed specifically to run the ball.

Does a guy who's catching 70 passes a year want any part of that? Maybe, but I'd also say it depends greatly on who else is offering him, because I'm not sure how much he's going to get the ball in his hands next year even if Sherrone wants to throw the ball.

I can’t believe we’re going into the country’s hardest schedule with no even remotely proven QBs. Failure to land one is an epic and needless gamble.
